Welp, this felt inevitable. Bulls' guard Alex Caruso entered the NBA's health and safety protocols Wednesday, per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports.

Caruso is the 14th Chicago player to enter protocols since December and the 18th overall. This list currently includes Ersan Ilyasova and Stanley Johnson, whose 10-day contracts expired, and Alize Johnson, who has since been waived in the last month.

Tyler Cook, Mac McClung, and Jordan Bell are the only players on the team who haven’t been in protocols.

Caruso, who hasn’t played since he suffered a left foot sprain on Dec. 12, was close to a return according to head coach Billy Donovan. However, Caruso will now miss additional time due to this development. Caruso leads the league in steals with 2.0 per game, even with this lengthy absence. His return will help stabilize the Bulls' defense.
