In addition to Lonzo Ball, Bulls' newcomer Alfonzo McKinnie has been activated off the COVID-19 list. McKinnie will be available against the Magic tonight.
McKinne’s Bulls Contributions
McKinnie is has appeared in three games. He is averaging 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. His last game on Dec. 20 was a breakout performance after adjusting to the roster composition. McKinnie finished with 16 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one block. He also was 4-6 from three.
McKinnie has added size and defense to the lineup. He has also shown confidence at the three-point line making him a versatile wing. He will be a strong option for the Bulls moving forward.
McKinnie has been a bench player throughout his career, which included stints with the Raptors, Warriors, Cavaliers, and Lakers. His most impactful year was with the Warriors in 2018-19, when he appeared in 72 games and gained playoff experience.
Prior to the NBA, McKinnie played his college ball at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay after transferring from Eastern Illinois University. He also has hometown roots, having attended Marshall High School on the west side of Chicago.
Now playing down the road at the United Center, fans can see his excitement to be home in person. Hopefully McKinnie can continue to contribute and inspire in his hometown.
