When Illinois hosts Maryland on January 6, it will be "Ayo Night" at State Farm Center. As part of the festivities, the Illini will welcome Ayo Dosunmu into the Illini Basketball Honored Jerseys program. Dosunmu will become the 34th player in program history to have his jersey hanging in the rafters.

Dosunmu's impact on Illinois basketball cannot be understated. The Chicago product elected to stay home and help restore his state school to an esteemed college basketball program.

During his three seasons in Champaign, Dosunmu averaged 16.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 3.9 APG. He also shot 47% from the field and 34.5% from three-point range across 90 collegiate games. Dosunmu led Illinois to a 2021 Big Ten Tournament Championship and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Then, he got to stay home once again when the Chicago Bulls selected him No. 38 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.
