The Bulls' offseason didn't take long to get started. Chicago Bulls forward Al-Farouq Aminu plans on exercising his 2021-22 player option for $10.2 million to return to the Bulls next season.

The forward was acquired by the Chicago Bulls at the 2020-21 NBA Trade Deadline along with All-Star Center Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic. After being acquired by the Bulls, Aminu averaged 1.5 PPG, 0.3 APG, and 3.2 RPG. Aminu shot 20% from the floor and 16% from the three-point line. The 6-foot-8 forward only appeared in six games for Chicago.

However, the Bulls could still waive and stretch Aminu's contract to free up cap space. In an offseason which will likely see the Bulls be aggressive in the market, there are ways Aminu's salary could negatively affect their pursuit for superior talent. Aminu has long battled with injuries and most likely won't be apart of what is a hopeful and bright future here in Chicago.
