As we remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, the Chicago Bulls are still all business. The team made a series of moves today that affect the roster.
Caruso, Green to Windy City Bulls
First, the Bulls assigned Alex Caruso and Javonte Green to the Windy City Bulls.
Caruso and Green will likely not see the court in a Windy City uniform. The move will allow Caruso and Green to practice with the team today without taking away from the roster that will face the Grizzlies. They both should be recalled to the Bulls tomorrow.
Caruso and Green have been sidelined due to injuries as of late. Caruso will most likely return on Wednesday. Green's timetable is still uncertain but he should be back within the next couple of weeks.
Dotson Waived; Hill Signs Two-Way Deal
The Bulls waived Devon Dotson today.
The point guard joined the Bulls before the 2020 season and played in 11 games. Likewise, Dotson has played in 11 games so far this season, averaging nearly eight minutes per contest.
However, Dotson's field goal percentage has decreased from 52% in 2020 to 48% in 2021. He will enter the league's waiver wire, which will allow another NBA team to take on his contract within the next 48 hours.
If no team picks up Dotson's deal, he will enter unrestricted free agency.
One reason Dotson was waived could be the signing of Malcolm Hill to a two-way contract.
The Bulls brought Hill into the mix last week amidst a flurry of injuries. The University of Illinois product played 18 productive minutes in his first game with Chicago on Saturday night.
Hill joined the NBA this season when he was signed on a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks in December. The Bulls signed Hill to a 10-day contract on Jan.14. That deal now turns into a two-way contract.
