Per Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan, the team waived Daniel Oturu and Ethan Thompson on Monday. Donovan feels optimistic that both players will stick with the Windy City Bulls in the G League.

The Bulls brought both Thompson and Oturu in earlier this offseason with hope of bolstering their team depth. That objective will likely still be met, but now the team will have reinforcements with the Windy City Bulls.

Oturu played 30 games in 2021 with the Los Angeles Clippers. Although he was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Timberwolves back in 2020, he never debuted with the team. If injuries impact the Bulls this season, Oturu may return to the roster as depth.

Thompson was signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason by the Bulls. Thompson played four seasons at Oregon State University where he averaged 13.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 3.9 APG over the course of his collegiate career. Although Thompson didn't make the active roster, he will still stick around in the G League and continue to work on his game.

The Bulls play their final preseason game at home on Friday, October 15 against the Memphis Grizzlies. After that, the Bulls will travel to Detroit for a season opening matchup with the Pistons on October 20.
