Bulls' Ayo Dosunmu Is Having a ‘Monster Offseason’

Word of mouth about the All-Rookie Second Team honoree’s summer has reached K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

The Chicago Bulls haven’t strayed too far from the headlines this summer.

Zach LaVine became $212 million richer, Marko Simonovic earned a reward for his hard work, and DeMar DeRozan dragged Patrick Williams through a few wee-hour workouts.

But it’s their teammate, Ayo Dosunmu, who’s quietly catching a lot of people’s attention, according to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

“I know all offseason workouts are legendary. But I keep hearing Ayo’s having a monster offseason,” Johnson said on the latest episode of the Bulls Talk Podcast.

“Now that doesn’t mean anything, but…I keep hearing that from multiple people.”

Johnson, who said he expects Goran Dragic, not Dosunmu, to start if Lonzo Ball remains sidelined, didn’t give any details about Dosunmu’s summer regimen. However, Johnson did posit that the former second-round pick-turned All-Rookie honoree will corral whatever potential lies ahead of him.

Something his NBC Sports Chicago colleague and podcast co-host Rob Schaefer endorsed.

“We saw him improve so much over the course of last season,” Schaefer said of Dosunmu, who Bleacher Report recently named the team’s most underrated player.

“He’s the guy that when you’re making the bets of who’s going to make significant steps forward, he’s the type of dude that you bet on.”

Given how they’ve rolled the dice on continuity, it appears Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley already have.
