The Chicago Bulls Summer League team was without Patrick Williams (rest) and Devon Dotson (injury) in Sunday's 96-91 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Bulls found themselves down 16 points in the first half but outscored Memphis 31-16 in the third quarter. The Bulls failed to finish out the game in the fourth quarter, but rookies Ayo Dosunmu and Marko Simonovic still showed out.
With both Williams and Dotson sidelined, the Bulls Summer League team was in need of scoring. Ayo Dosunmu stepped up and delivered 26 points on 11-for-21 (52.4%) shooting. Dosunmu hit a pair of floaters when attacking the basket in addition to a collection of pull-up jumpers in the mid-range. Dosunmu's playmaking connection with fellow Bulls rookie Marko Simonovic is what fueled the Bulls' third-quarter comeback.
He finished the night with a stat line of 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Dosunmu played great defense, hounding opponents at the perimeter and even leaping up to intercept a lob at the rim.
Rookie Marko Simonovic had an impressive game of his own finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Simonovic wasn't the leading scorer but he had a long list of highlights, including trio of dunks early, a no-look pass, a pair of steals, and many more. If you missed Simonovic's highlights live you can catch the action via my highlight thread on Twitter.
The Bulls unfortunately won't be playing in the Las Vegas Summer League championship game. However, they will face the Hornets in their Summer League finale tonight (August 16) at 9 PM Central on ESPN2.
