Where there is smoke, there is fire! According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Chicago Bulls have traded for four-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan.

When the NBA free agency period began, rumors surfaced about the San Antonio Spurs having interest in acquiring stretch big-man Lauri Markkanen. However, it reportedly won't be the Finnish forward going to San Antonio in the trade. The Bulls will instead send forwards Thaddeus Young and Al-Farouq Aminu, first- and second-round draft picks in 2025, and a second-round pick in 2022 to the Spurs, per Wojnarowski.

The magnitude of this move speaks volumes to what the new front office of the Chicago Bulls can do. Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley had to convince DeRozan to sign back with the Spurs as part of a sign-and-trade agreement to land in Chicago. The deal will be a three-year pact worth $85 million-plus, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

DeRozan has past ties with Eversley and even played a year at USC with current Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, so there are bits of familiarity in place as he ventures to the Windy City.

The Bulls still need to add some front-court depth this offseason, but to this point it seems the new-look core is in place.
