If Dalen Terry hasn’t already endeared himself to his new stomping grounds, the reasoning behind the number on his jersey should put him over the top.
With Jerry Sloan having long immortalized the No. 4 Terry wore at Arizona, the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft will rock No. 25 with the Chicago Bulls. And he did so to pay homage to Ben Wilson and former Bull and fellow Wildcat alum Steve Kerr, Terry told the Bulls Talk podcast.
Wilson who, in 1984, was considered the best high school basketball player in the country, was murdered before his senior season at Simeon — where he played with Terry’s uncle.
Though not from Chicago, Terry steps into a line of homegrown players, including Derrick Rose, who chose to wear the number in Wilson’s honor.
All told — between his vibrant personality, his appreciation for where he landed in the draft, and his blue-collar work ethic — Dalen Terry is destined to win the heart of the city.
That is, unless he hasn’t done so already.
