It's pretty surreal that DeMar DeRozan is a Chicago Bull. The front office brain trust of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley was hard at work to start the NBA free agency period, as DeRozan was just one of several impactful additions. Bringing in a veteran like DeRozan can truly help this team take a jump into the postseason in 2021-22.

The sign-and-trade deal for DeRozan became official yesterday. The Bulls sent a future first-round pick, two second-round picks, Al Farouq-Aminu, and Thaddeus Young to the San Antonio Spurs for DeRozan.

As part of the team's official welcome, it was announced that DeRozan will wear number #11 for the Bulls since #10 is retired for Bob Love. DeRozan shared his excitement about the deal becoming official yesterday by posting the Bulls 1996 intro video on his Twitter account.

In an interview with Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic, DeRozan said he was excited about the opportunity to play for the Bulls. When asked why he chose Chicago, DeRozan replied, "The talent." He also raved about Zach LaVine, stating he has been a fan of the Bulls All-Star guard since LaVine entered the league in 2014. Additionally, DeRozan expressed excitement about joining former USC teammate Nikola Vucevic on the Bulls.

Veteran leadership is what DeMar DeRozan will bring to this team. Second-year forward Patrick Williams will have a fantastic opportunity to learn from DeRozan, as both players have a similar build and play style. DeRozan appears to be excited to get to work and continue to add to the Chicago Bulls legacy.

"Obviously, great city, great organization. The history behind it is amazing."
