DeMar DeRozan met with reporters as part of Chicago Bulls' media day this afternoon. DeRozan's demeanor and answers to questions were thoughtful, deliberate, and confident. The former Spur hasn't been shy about sharing the confidence he has in his new team since the Bulls acquired him in August. When his fit with the Bulls raised questions, DeRozan said, "It's all bullshit."
When asked today about that same topic, DeRozan said, "It isn't rocket science, it's basketball." That is the kind of veteran leadership and answer that should get Bulls fans' blood pumping. DeRozan is a hooper. In a league where three-point shooters are key, he has proven to be one of the best players in the league despite not shooting them.
DeRozan said he was excited to play in Chicago and has been training with Zach LaVine during the offseason. Building chemistry on and off the court with be vital for this year's Chicago Bulls, who expect to be a legitimate competitor in the Eastern Conference.
A fun tidbit from his interview involved his conversations with former Bulls Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler. Both players offered high praise to the city of Chicago and the Bulls organization.
