Coming off a monstrous year in his first season in a Chicago Bulls uniform, DeMar DeRozan is signing a new four-year deal with Nike. The deal will keep him as the face of Kobe Bryant’s iconic shoe line, per Shams Charania.
The five-time All-Star has always played in Kobe’s, preferably the Kobe 6 PEs.
That said, there is always an exception. For one game, DeMar decided to wear Jordans under teammate Vince Carter’s advice when they played the Lakers. Naturally, Kobe hit the game-winner to beat them.
DeRozan always had a special relationship with Bryant, but for that game he decided to change it up. "I said I'm not wearing his shoes and playing against him tonight, so I wore Jordans.”
“He (Kobe) said, 'the f**k you got those on for?' He was mad at me for doing that and he ended up hitting the game-winner on us. Never put another pair of Jordans on."
DeRozan has been busy this offseason. From dazzling in the Drew League, to announcing basketball camps in the Chicagoland area, the Bulls' star has been busy. Now, DeRozan adds to his list of offseason activities with his new Nike deal.
With training camp little over a month away and preseason starting on October fourth, it will be exciting to see what color ways and collaborations DeRozan will wear throughout the 2022-23 season.
