Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic recently wrote an article detailing a growing friendship has grown between Draymond Green and Zach LaVine. LaVine and Green both won Gold Medals representing Team USA in the 2020 Olympics. The two will now meet in a primetime Friday night showdown when the Chicago Bulls visit the Golden State Warriors at 9 PM CST ESPN.
This season, LaVine is playing with the most talented team he has ever been part of during his NBA career. The 2020-21 NBA All-Star has the ability to score from anywhere and do it efficiently. He is known as a "gym rat" that just wants to improve his overall game. This isn't the first time LaVine has drawn praise from notable names from around the league and it likely won't be the last.
Green can see the potential LaVine possesses in his eighth NBA season. The praise went both ways too.
"You can see why the Warriors are so good. He's the glue guy. He looks out for everyone else before himself," LaVine said of Green. There is no doubt that LaVine benefited from being around top talent in the NBA during his time at the Olympics.
Green's Warriors enter Friday's contest with the NBA's best record at 10-1. LaVine and the Bulls come in at 8-3 after winning their last two games against sure-fire playoff teams in the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks. The Bulls will be without All-Star center Nikola Vucevic as he battles COVID-19. It'll be an entertaining game with two unlikely friends going head-to-head.
