Woah. Does this mean something? Could Jimmy Buckets be returning to the Chicago Bulls? Jimmy has praised Bulls Head Coach Jim Boylen before, so maybe it's a just a friendly get together, or maybe not.
It's no secret Jimmy loved his time in the Windy City, even when he was traded he showed the utmost respect for Jerry Reinsdorf, Gar Forman, and John Paxson. In a Chicago Tribune article, written by K.C Johnson, Butler said this, “From the great games I had here to the terrible ones, to the best competition that comes in here night in and night out, to playing with the players that I played with, this is still home,” Butler said before the game. “I love it here. I do. I think everybody knows that. I’ll be back a lot during the summer.”
Though Jimmy also did show his love for the 76ers as well:
“It’s been great,” he said. “We’re winning. I’m smiling. I’m happy. I love the group of guys that we have. I’ve got my people with me at home. Whenever I leave the gym, my mom goes with me. I’m good.”
Is there a plan to bring Jimmy back and pair him with the players he was traded for?
Jimmy Butler is a free agent this upcoming summer and if you're an NBA fan, you know how free agency goes. It can be an unpredictable wild roller coaster. Jimmy is a very good player, he has that killer mentality, but would he fit in with the Bulls?
The Bulls have a roster currently constructed for that pace and space kind of basketball. Jimmy has a bit of a tendency to be a ball stopper, but Jimmy is also an above average playmaker. He could fit right in with this squad and break down opposing defenses and kick the ball out to Zach or Lauri.
The Bulls could look to bring Jimmy in and plug him in at the Small Forward position. By doing that the Bulls could look to move up in the draft by offering the 7th pick and possibly Otto Porter Jr. Who knows?
When Jimmy was traded some of Bulls nation was mad, others were happy because he seemed to adopt that "Hollywood as Hell" mentality that Dwyane Wade brought over. Though, if Jimmy did come back, that may kill the Bulls cannot land a big-time free agent talk.
It's been no secret the Bulls have discussed trying to trade up in this year's draft and landing Jimmy could help give them the push to do so. Could you imagine if they pulled it off?
Again, these are just thoughts running through my head. If the Bulls choose to stand pat and stay the course, then it is what it is. Or if GarPax truly tries to make a huge splash with something like this, the Bulls would most definitely have my attention.
