Following the news of center Nikola Vucevic entering the NBA's health and safety protocols, the Chicago Bulls recalled rookie center Marko Simonovic. Simonovic has been in the NBA G-League playing with the Windy City Bulls. A second-round pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Simonovic decided to sign with the Bulls in the 2021 offseason to play in the States.
Simonovic has appeared in two games for the Windy City Bulls and has adapted quite well. He is averaging 19.5 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 1.5 BPG and shooting 62% from the floor and 50% from downtown. He racked up those numbers in 33.9 MPG. It's unclear if Simonovic will see significant minutes upon his call-up, but his size is much needed with Vucevic being unavailable.
In the 2021 NBA Summer League, Simonovic averaged 12 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 1.2 APG. He played 18.9 MPG during that time. This will be a good chance for the coaching staff and fans alike to get a look at what he can do if gets meaningful playing time. Standing at 6-foot-11, he will provide an element of size the Bulls can use to their advantage while waiting for Vucevic to return.
