Former Chicago Bull Thaddeus Young recently appeared on Stacey King's "Gimme The Hot Sauce" podcast. Young talked about a variety of topics, one of them being Bulls' second-year forward Patrick Williams.
Young shared stories from his career and even spoke on his relationship with Williams. Young would ask, "Do you want to be great? If you do, prove it to me." The benefits of veteran leadership should never be understated. Though Williams only had one year with Thad, it seems the two have great respect for one another. "The sky is the limit for Pat. He just needs to continue to be aggressive."
Young also brought up how proud he is of Zach LaVine. Young said, "I am super proud of him. He's like a little brother to me." Young stated that he and LaVine are still in constant contact and that LaVine needs to prepare himself to be a leader now. "As much as you're going to score, you have to keep yourself on that high. Y'all are going to run into speed bumps and you don't want those speed bumps to bring you to low points."
Young also pointed out how he was surprised to be traded to the San Antonio Spurs. The seasoned vet said he understands what happens when new front offices are brought in to NBA Franchises, but it still caught him off guard.
A plethora of more topics were discussed during the interview. From the new Bulls' coaching staff, to the front office, and yes, even Jim Boylen. Young was a constant professional in his time in Chicago. This podcast is definitely worth the listen.
