Yes, you read the headline right. The Chicago Bulls are bringing back home white jerseys for the 2021-22 NBA season. In August of 2017, the Bulls announced that they would be wearing the previously traditional road red jerseys at home for their "See Red" campaign. While it's quite the sight to have everyone wear red to match the players at the Madhouse on Madison, the tradition of the home white jersey was missed by some.
By some, I mean me of course. Just kidding.. kind of. I've spoken with several Bulls fans that missed the white jerseys at home. Of course, I've talked to fans that loved having the team wear red at home as well.
I tweeted on September 27 -- before this news was released -- that the Bulls should go back to white at home. The reason? It's to bring back old traditions. Now, I offered a thought stating it would be awesome to do red jerseys at home in the playoffs. That would be an ideal time to run the "See Red" campaign as it makes the playoffs a bit more special and engaging for fans.
An off-the-wall desire I have, which could tie both Jerry Reinsdorf teams together, is to wear black at home in the playoffs. The Chicago Bulls' black alternate jerseys are so crisp. Just like the 2021 AL Central Division Champion Chicago White Sox will be doing on the South Side this October, the Bulls should blackout the United Center in the playoffs. In this new era, it could reflect the "underdog" "chip on our shoulder" mentality this new look Bulls team has. Hey, it's just a thought!
