As the AHL opens the 2021 season tomorrow, the Rockford IceHogs learned the Cleveland Monsters, their originally scheduled weekend opponent, would not travel due to COVID-19 protocols.

With that news, the Chicago Wolves added a game against their in-state rival on Saturday, allowing the IceHogs live game action on the league’s opening weekend.

The Wolves will still open their season on Friday against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The addition of Saturday’s game breaks up what would have been a five-day break for the Wolves. Saturday’s game will be played at Triphahn Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates, the Wolves home for the 2021 season.
