Chicago Hounds Sign 2021 MLR Champion Luke Carty
The Chicago Hounds signed 2021 Major League Rugby champion Luke Carty after selecting him in the MLR Dispersal Draft, the club announced Tuesday.
The 25-year-old flyhalf spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Giltinis. He scored 29 points (10 of 11 on conversions, 3 of 3 on penalties) in only three appearances this past season. He missed most of the season because of a pectoral muscle injury during a preseason training session.
Carty's performance earned him a spot on Team USA's roster for the World Cup qualifiers in July. He played in two of the Eagles' repechage matches against Chile, which saw Team USA fail to qualify for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Carty was teammates with Chicago signing Bill Meakes in Los Angeles.
