Following the departure of former assistant coaches Chin Coleman and Orlando Antigua to Kentucky, the Illini basketball program needed to add a new assistant. Coleman and Antigua were integral recruiters for compiling the 2020-21 Big Ten Champion Illinois team, so there will be some large shoes to fill.

Illinois made a stride in that department on Thursday, however, as Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports Brad Underwood is adding Chester Frazier from Virginia Tech as a replacement.

Frazier played for Illinois basketball under Bruce Weber from 2005-2009. During that time, he served as a team captain twice and helped the Illini reach the NCAA tournament three times. After college, he played in Germany from 2009-2012.
