Notre Dame added Northwestern All-American safety Brandon Joseph on Saturday, when he announced his plan to transfer from the Wildcats to the Irish.

Joseph entered the transfer portal last week. He had 80 tackles, three interceptions, one sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss in 12 games this past season. In 2020, he had six interceptions in nine games to earn All-American honors. He had a sensational interception against then-Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields in the Big Ten championship game.

The Irish have three safeties departing, most notably projected top-10 NFL Draft pick Kyle Hamilton. Houston Griffith, Justin Walters, Xavier Watts, and Ramon Henderson are each slated to return, while Jayden Bellamy will enroll. D.J. Brown's future also remains uncertain.
