Notre Dame Shamrock Series Uniforms

Notre Dame unveiled its uniform Monday for their 2021 Shamrock Series football game.

The Irish will play Wisconsin in the game Saturday, Sept. 25 at Soldier Field, home of the NFL's Chicago Bears. The two programs were scheduled to meet in 2020, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Irish's uniforms have two gold stripes on the shoulders to resemble the rivers and waterways on the city of Chicago's flag. The flag is also incorporated into the white stripe along the back of the helmet.

The jersey outside collar on the neck features 'graduating champions' in gold lettering in all caps. The gold pants showcase a one stripe with a blue stripe on either side down the leg. The block numbers on the jersey represent the "City of Broad Shoulders," which is one of Chicago's nicknames.

The design for the pants is a call back to the Irish's first game at Soldier Field in 1924. The gloves mirror the striping aspect on the pants.

Notre Dame is 9-0 in Shamrock Series games, since the series began in 2009 with the then-No. 25 Irish's 40-14 win against Washington State at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
