The 2022 season hasn’t gone according to plan for Chicago Cubs’ top overall prospect Brennen Davis. Coming into the season, the 15th-ranked prospect in baseball was knocking on the door for a call to the show. Through 22 games at Triple-A Iowa, Davis is slashing .195/.286/.299 with two homers, seven RBIs, and a 34.1 percent strikeout rate. Now, heading to the injured list won’t help him find his groove.

Davis hasn’t played in a game since May 3 due to lower back discomfort, and his return is to be determined. Cubs fans hoped to see him tear it up at the Triple-A level and receive a call-up in the middle of the season. Those hopes seem to be slowly fading as it will now take him more time to develop upon his return.

While we don’t know exactly when Brennen Davis will be back in action, we know he will be out at least seven days, the minimum for Minor League IL stints.
