Cubs Believe No. 4 Prospect Miguel Amaya Needs Tommy John Surgery

Cubs top catching prospect Miguel Amaya will likely need Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2022 season recovering.

With all the positive news coming from the Chicago Cubs farm, it was only a matter of time for setback. That's exactly what has happened to Cubs No. 4 prospect Miguel Amaya.

The Cubs believe Amaya will need Tommy John surgery, meaning he will miss all of next season and perhaps some of the 2023 season if setbacks continue to happen.

The organization's top catching prospect missed the last few months of the 2021 season due to what was described as a right forearm strain.
