The Chicago Cubs will play a three-game series at the Washington Nationals, starting Monday at Nationals Park.

The Cubs (47-66) have won four of their past six games, including three straight before a 8-5 loss Sunday at the Cincinnati Reds. Sunday's game marked the second consecutive game the Cubs hit three home runs. Chicago's recent stretch also includes two victories over the Nationals, 6-3 and 4-2, at Wrigley Field.

The Nationals (38-78) dropped a three-game series against the San Diego Padres and Juan Soto, falling 10-5 and 6-0 with a 4-3 win in the middle. Washington has lost three of its past five since its six-game losing streak.

The Cubs and Nationals are each looking to the future and not this year's playoffs. Chicago is 15.5 games out of the NL wild-card race, while Washington is the worst team in MLB.
