The Chicago Cubs are reportedly in hot pursuit of two of their former stars. According to multiple sources, the Cubs are pushing hard to sign both Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo.

Now, before we get too excited, both Rizzo and Schwarber have been linked to multiple teams this off-season. David Kaplan states Kyle Schwarber is emerging as one of the hottest free agents and several teams are trying to secure his services.

As we’ve seen just in the past few days, you have to take every rumor with a grain of salt, like Carlos Correa for example. With Freddie Freeman linked to multiple teams as well, you can almost bet that both left-handed bats are going to be a hot commodity for several teams and their prices probably won’t be cheap.

I would love to see both Rizzo and Schwarber come back to the North Side. The thought of watching Schwarber hit moon-shot after moon-shot over the right-field scoreboard this summer is mouthwatering. And who wouldn’t love to see another moment like this with Tony Two-Chains?

But I’m not getting my hopes up, just yet.

Most Cubs fans can agree we’d all love to see the duo of Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber back in Wrigleyville this year, but let’s not get over excited. We’ve heard these rumors before and there's still a lot of questions about the Cubs roster. We’ll just have to wait and see.
