The Chicago Cubs begin their final homestand of the season Tuesday when they start a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs (67-86) have won five of their past six games after taking three of four at the Pittsburgh Pirates. Chicago won 3-2 and 6-5 before a 6-0 loss then bounced back with an 8-3 victory Sunday. It's no surprise the Cubs have found success given their lesser opponents - Miami Marlins and Pirates - during this recent stretch.
The Phillies (83-69), however, have something to play for. Philadelphia holds a 1.5-game lead on the Milwaukee Brewers for the third and final NL Wild Card spot. The San Francisco Giants are still in contention for the Wild Card, but at 8.5 games back, it looks like the race will be between the Phillies and Brewers.
Philadelphia has lost seven of its 10 games, including its past two against the reigning World Series champion Atlanta Braves. Five of the Phillies' losses in that stretch came against Atlanta.
