The Chicago Cubs start their final road trip of the 2021 season with a three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The Cubs' (67-89, fourth in NL Central) latest losing streak reached six games after they were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday at Wrigley Field. Chicago's current skid started during the Cubs' final homestand, which ended with a 4-2 loss Sunday. The Cubs have a two-and-half game lead on the Washington Nationals for the seventh-worst record in the MLB. Chicago is also two games back of the Minnesota Twins for the eighth-worst record.

The good news is the Cubs aren't as bad as the Pirates (58-98, fifth in NL Central), who hold the fourth-worst record in the MLB. Pittsburgh has lost four of its past five, with its lone win in that stretch a 6-0 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies to avoid a sweep. The Pirates enter the series after a 13-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds in a makeup game.
