Cubs Place Hermosillo on IL, Recall Martini from Iowa

The Cubs have placed OF Michael Hermosillo on the 10-day IL with a forearm strain. The team recalled OF Nick Martini from Triple-A Iowa.

Another day, another roster move for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have placed outfielder Michael Hermosillo on the 10-day injured list with a left forearm strain.

In the Ottawa, IL native's place, the team has recalled outfielder Nick Martini from Triple-A Iowa. Martini spent some time with the Cubs earlier this season due to other injuries on the roster.

Hermosillo was building on an impressive Triple-A season after his promotion to the Cubs. In 16 games with Chicago, Hermosillo is slashing .194/.237/.500 with two doubles, three home runs, and seven RBIs. The average doesn't stand out, but Hermosillo has made some impactful plays for the Cubs since his promotion.

As for Martini, he's slashing .267/.387/.444 with Triple-A Iowa including 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. In a brief stint with Chicago earlier this season, Martini played in 12 games, slashing .083/.200/.083 with a lone RBI single.

The Cubs and Reds compete for a series win on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field. The Cubs will be off on Thursday before beginning a series with San Francisco this weekend.
