The injury bug continues to hurt the Chicago Cubs as they placed pitcher Justin Steele on the ten-day injured list on Friday.

In turn, the Cubs promoted left-handed pitcher Brad Wieck in Steele's place. Steele has been a promising piece of the Cubs bullpen, a group that ranks fourth in baseball in earned run average with a mark of 3.16.

Steele has been a big part of that success since his call up in early April, posting a 2.03 ERA in 13.1 innings pitched out of the Cubs pen.

The injury came after he was forced to bat in yesterday's 5-2 Cubs win. Steele reached base and eventually exited after the inning with right hamstring tightness.

Manager David Ross says the strain is "moderate."

Steele joins Jason Heyward, Alec Mills, Trevor Megill, Austin Romine, Rowan Wick, and Jake Marisnick on the Cubs injured list.

Wieck will begin his second stint with the Cubs this season. The southpaw is another power arm who could possibly see similar matchups as Steele.

Wieck has pitched two clean innings this season.
