With the end of the Chicago Cubs' season within grasp, the team had to make another roster move to get through this week. Retroactive to September 27, RHP Keegan Thompson was placed on the 10-day IL with shoulder inflammation.

Taking Thompson's place on the roster will be RHP Jason Adam. Adam is having an incredible comeback after a scary injury earlier this season. At one point, Adam's baseball future was in jeopardy, but the right-hander has clawed his way all the way back to the big league roster with the Cubs.

Adam struggled with the Cubs in 2021, but was fairly successful during the 2020 shortened season. He pitched his way to a 3.29 ERA in 13 games in 2020. In addition, he struck out 21 batters and only walked eight in 13.2 innings of work. In 2021, Adam has a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 innings pitched.
