For the second time this season, Chicago Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel is taking home NL Rookie of the Month honors. Not only is this Schwindel's second time winning the honor, but its his second time in consecutive months.

The 29-year-old rookie captured Rookie of the Month honors in August for the NL. Now, Schwindel is at it again, capping off an impressive run for an unlikely sensation. For the month of September, "Frank the Tank" slashed .357/.405/.625 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs. In addition, Schwindel added nine doubles and had 40 total hits over the course of the month.

Entering the offseason, the first baseman's future with the Cubs remains uncertain. However, he has played himself into the conversation for being a part of the roster in 2022. Schwindel has won NL Rookie of the Month twice, and NL Player of the Week once back in early September. If the Cubs don't spend big in the offseason, there is a good chance the unlikely fan favorite will return to the Cubs in 2022.
