Cubs Select Koen Moreno with the 147th Pick in the MLB Draft
With the 147th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Chicago Cubs selected right handed pitcher Koen Moreno from Panther Creek High School (NC).
The Cubs added yet another arm to their five-round draft crop, making three pitchers selected in the 2020 MLB Draft by the Cubs.
In his junior season at Panther Creek High School, Moreno pitched his way to a 1.62 ERA, a 5-3 record in eight appearances, with 80 strikeouts and 17 walks in 47 2/3 innings. Despite not throwing a ton in high school, he was incredibly effective when he was throwing.

Moreno will require some development, but the 18-year-old will be able to grow in the Cubs system and develop into a potential starter. If he does not sign with the Cubs, he is set to attend Eastern Carolina University.
