The Chicago Cubs have added more talent from an already very talented family tree. On Saturday morning, the team signed Alexis Hernandez, a 17-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic. He’s the brother of top prospect Cristian Hernandez.
Alexis Hernandez is a top-50 prospect in the 2022 international free agent class, No. 18 to be exact. MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez reports the deal is worth $1.3 million.
The Cubs also plan to sign third baseman Adan Sanchez (Panama), shortstop Jefferson Rojas (Dominican Republic), outfielder Josefrailin Alcantara (Dominican Republic), and catcher Carlos Altuve (Venezuela), according to MLB.com and Baseball America.
Sanchez ranks as the No. 43 international prospect, per MLB.com.
