Chicago Cubs baseball is on the air.

The Cubs will open their season with a four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers, starting Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Chicago isn't expected to make the postseason this year after missing out last year, while the Brewers aim to repeat as National League Central champions. The divisional foes will have their top pitchers on the mound for Opening Day, with Kyle Henricks (Chicago) and reigning Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes (Milwaukee).

The first-year Cubs general manager Carter Hawkins added outfielder Seiya Suzuki and pitcher Marcus Stroman in free agency along with a bevy of veterans. The most notable veteran additions are pitcher Wade Miley, who was claimed off waivers from the Reds, and catcher Yan Gomes. Chicago hopes to use Gomes to back up Willson Contreras and lighten the workload for the 2016 World Series champion.

The Cubs will also look to un-tap the potential of infielder Nick Madrigal, who they acquired from the White Sox in the Craig Kimbrel trade last year. Selected fourth overall in the 2018 MLB Draft by the White Sox, Madrigal has struggled to stay healthy and live up to lofty expectations.

Opening Day History
