The Chicago Cubs will finish a five-game homestand with a two-game set Monday and Tuesday against Cleveland at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs (40-32, first in NL Central) enter the series after a frustrating 2-1 series loss to the Miami Marlins. Chicago was outscored 21-5 against the Marlins, with losses of 10-2 and 11-1 before a 2-0 victory Sunday to avoid a sweep. The Cubs' offense has gone quiet lately with contact-oriented hitters sidelined as they've scored no more than three runs in eight consecutive games.

Cleveland (39-30, second in AL Central) won four straight and six of their past seven before losing a road series 2-1 to the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. Cleveland dropped the first two games, 11-10 and 6-3, before a 2-1 win Sunday.

The Cubs are expected to have starting pitcher Adbert Alzolay return to the rotation after he was on the shelf with a blister on his right middle finger. Alzolay is expected to take the mound for the series opener opposite of Aaron Civale, who is Cleveland's frontman with Shane Bieber and Zach Plesac injured.

Season Series

The Cubs dropped their first two games against Cleveland this season, 3-2 and 2-1 in 10 innings in mid-May.
