Changes were inevitable for the Cubs during this 2020-21 offseason, and another name the club moved on from has signed elsewhere. As of Super Bowl Sunday, Albert Almora Jr. has reportedly agreed to a deal with the New York Mets.

Based on Ken Rosenthal's report, the Mets project Almora as an everyday center fielder, something he wasn't in Chicago.

Over the course of his Cubs career, Almora posted a .271/.309/.398 slash line. However, since the start of the 2019 season, Almora never batted higher than .236. His defensive ability in centerfield also diminished, as he made routine plays look like web gems more frequently.

Say what you will about Almora, but he delivered one of the most memorable plays in Chicago Cubs history, and arguably the most important tag and advance on a sac fly in MLB history.

Almora joins Kyle Schwarber, Jon Lester, Tyler Chatwood, Jose Quintana, Yu Darvish, and Victor Caratini as major departures from the roster.
