In the event you were busy on Tuesday evening, or just paying attention more to the Cubs' win, Brennen Davis had a great Triple-A debut. The team's top prospect and No. 14 overall in baseball homered in his first two at-bats with the Iowa Cubs.
The first home run of the evening came on an 0-2 count in the top of the second inning. Davis smoked the ball to deep left field for his first career Triple-A home run.
When everyone was excited for Davis, the Cubs also had Patrick Wisdom tying Kris Bryant's rookie home run record and Alfonso Rivas hitting his first career MLB home run. That said, Davis refused to let anyone forget about him. In the top of the third inning, just one inning later, Davis did it again.
Davis' second shot wasn't necessarily as deep as the first, but is still impressive nonetheless. After looking strong at Double-A Tennessee this season, Davis hasn't missed a beat with each level he climbs. With 15 games remaining for the Iowa Cubs, Davis has a great opportunity to impressive the Cubs enough to battle for a spot on the Opening Day roster in 2022.
