On Thursday, Chicago Cubs' general manager Jed Hoyer spoke on the Wade Miley acquisition while at the GM Meetings. In Hoyer's response regarding the Miley waiver claim and subsequent option pick-up, he mentioned having "a lot more moves" to make before the offseason comes to a close.

Speculation surrounding what Hoyer means with his response runs wild. Many fans want members of the core to return such as Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Baez. There is a large portion of the fanbase that wants Nicholas Castellanos to be hitting bombs out of Wrigley Field for years to come. In addition, there are the fans, such as myself, who want a player such as Marcus Stroman to venture to the North Side. No matter what the plan is for the Cubs, they're far from finished with what they want to do.

There will be a lot of intrigue surrounding the Cubs' plan for the offseason. The team at various times has indicated a fast "rebuild" of sorts, meaning the Cubs intend on contending by 2023 rather than 2025 or later. In order to do that, the team needs prospects to be ready soon, such as Brennen Davis, and to fill in holes with acquisitions of some sort.

The team filled a huge hole by acquiring Miley to add to the rotation. Now, Jed Hoyer and company will have to find more creative and unique ways, along with traditional methods, to return the Cubs to contention rather than the cellars of the league standings.
