All season long, the Chicago Cubs have had a slew of personalities come in and out of the broadcast booth. Now, another former Cub will join the team in the booth for a pair of series this season. According to Marquee Sports Network, former catcher and MLB manager Joe Girardi will join the team.
Girardi, a native of Peoria, IL, played seven major league seasons with the Chicago Cubs after being selected in the fifth round of the 1986 MLB Draft. After a number of seasons in Chicago, Girardi played in New York with the Yankees, winning a trio of World Series titles. Once turning to the managerial side of baseball, Girardi managed 14 seasons with the Miami Marlins (2006), New York Yankees (2008-17), and Philadelphia Phillies (2020-22).
The Illinois native and Northwestern product will be in the booth this coming weekend (Aug. 19-21) for the Milwaukee Brewers series. In addition, he'll join the team again for the Marlins series (Sept. 19-21) later this season.
All season long, Marquee Sports Network has done a great job having a number of talented analysts join Pat Hughes, Beth Mowins, and Jon Sciambi. Now, another former Cub, and well-versed analyst in the form of Joe Girardi, will add to an already loaded roster.
