The Chicago Cubs designated RHP Brad Brach for assignment today ahead of their 1:20pm first pitch against the Milwaukee Brewers. This move makes room for Cole Hamels to re-join the roster and take the bump against the I-94 rivals.
This move is incredibly beneficial to the Cubs. After Brach's struggles this year, and the emergence of RHP Roman Wick, the Cubs made the decision to keep their best roster intact. Wick has been significantly better than Brach since being called up from Triple-A Iowa.
This is ultimately the best move ahead of today's game. For reference, here is today's lineup:
