Although the Chicago Cubs fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 on Monday, outfielder Seiya Suzuki did not disappoint. In his first game back from injury, Suzuki launched a ball off the wall at American Family Field, then proceeded to show off his wheels on the base paths on an inside-the-park home run.
Suzuki's fly ball caught an awkward angle in the wall of left-centerfield at American Family Field. In doing so, the ball caromed past Milwaukee's Jonathan Davis. The outfielder showed off his speed and was able to score. At the time, the run gave the Cubs a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth.
On Sunday, Taylor McGregor reported that Seiya Suzuki was on his way back from Iowa to join the Cubs. Although he wasn't activated for the final game of the Boston series, he was activated as the team ventured 90 minutes by car to the north. In his return, he did not disappoint. In addition to the inside-the-park shot, he added an opposite-field single. After cooling off prior to the injury, it's good seeing Suzuki picking up on the right foot.
Suzuki's return is well received for this Cubs team. With him back in the lineup, other hitters such as Ian Happ, Willson Contreras, and Nico Hoerner should benefit from his presence.
