Gabriel “Gaga” Slonina of the Chicago Fire Football Club ranks No. 46 in Goal.com's NXGN 2022: The 50 best wonderkids in football. The popular soccer site annually selects the top 50 prospects around the world born in 2003 or after. Chicago’s own, Slonina, is the only goalkeeper to make the list. Caden Clark of the New York Red Bulls and recently transferred Ricardo Pepi formerly of FC Dallas made the list as well.

Gaga, an Addison native, signed a “Homegrown” professional contract with the Fire in 2019 when he was 14 years old. This made him the second-youngest signing in Major League Soccer’s history. He made his professional debut for the Fire against New York City FC last August. That debut made him the youngest player in MLS history to start a game as a goalkeeper and to keep a clean sheet. Continuing his progress from last year, he’s earned three clean sheet performances in four games while only conceding one goal so far.

Gabriel Slonina, who is of Polish descent, has so far chosen to represent the United States for international duty. However, he has not closed the door on potentially representing the Polish National Team in the future. He earned his first youth international call-up to the U15 side in 2019. In less than three years, he earned his first call-up to the senior Men’s National Team in January.
