Fire: Navarro, Sekulić, and Shaqiri Called Up for National Team Responsibilities

The Chicago Fire trio, Miguel Navarro, Boris Sekulic, and Xherdan Shaqiri, have been called up due to national responsibilities.

The Chicago Fire FC announced Sunday morning that defenders Miguel Navarro and Boris Sekulić, and midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri have been called up to their respective National Teams.

Shaqiri will join Switzerland as they prepare to take on England at 12:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday. This will be the first time Shaqiri has been with the team since joining Chicago.

Sekulić joins the Slovakia Men’s National Team. Slovakia goes up against Norway on Friday, March 25, with kick-off set for noon CDT at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway.

As for Navarro he will join the Venezuela Men’s National Team for two 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. The first match will be against Argentina at 6:30 p.m. CDT on Friday, March 25 at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires. Then for their second match, they will host Colombia at 6:30 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, March 29, at the Estadio Polideportivo Cachamay in Ciudad Guayana.

The Chicago Fire FC are off to their best start in over a decade. The team will not be without their stars in their next match against FC Dallas on April 2 at Dallas thanks to the short MLS break.
