Chicago Fire FC New York City FC NYCFC Preview How to Watch TV

The Chicago Fire look to end their winless streak across all competitions at nine matches when they visit the reigning MLS champions New York City FC on Sunday at Citi Field in New York.

The Fire (2-5-5) blew a lead in the 91st minute to settle for a 3-3 draw at the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday in New Jersey. Chicago has lost four of its past five in MLS play and hasn’t won since a 3-1 victory against Sporting Kansas City on March 19.

New York (6-3-2), however, is unbeaten in its past six matches after a 2-0 win against D.C. United. Former Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson has posted four consecutive clean sheets for NYCFC. Valentin "Taty" Castellanos, the 2021 Golden Boot winner, has seven goals this season in a five-game span. New York will be without Castellanos on Sunday due to suspension, which means Heber or Talles Magno will step in.

After Wednesday, Fire midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has now been involved in seven of Chicago’s last nine MLS goals (three goals, four assists). He sat out training Friday in Bridgeview, but Chicago head coach Ezra Hendrickson said Shaqiri is expected to play. Center-back Rafael Czichos (right leg) and forward Jairo Torres (left hip), however, are each questionable.
