MLB Gambling Picks - 9/1/20

Take Taco Tuesday to the next level with three MLB gambling picks.
MLB Gambling Picks

I had a 1-1 night on Monday. The Royals busted the two-game parlay I had between the Indians and Braves, but the White Sox completed a comeback and covered. I sit at 79-69 on the season. Let's get to some Tuesday nights action.

Reds vs. Cardinals

These two teams are about even. At least, that's my read. The Cardinals won yesterday, so they should lose now, right? That isn't the reason I'm betting this game. The bats are probably a net neutral. The advantage is the starting pitcher. Sonny Gray faces off with Kwang Hyun Kim. Kim does not induce hard contact. That's his advantage, but Gray is next to perfect with his fastball and breaking ball. Kim and Gray both executed the last time they faced this opponent. Both teams have above-average bullpens this season, but look for the Reds to hand the 'pen a lead after Gray goes 6 strong.

Pick: Reds -153

Twins vs. White Sox

You may call me a homer, but this White Sox team is good. I'm 17-3 betting them this season. The edge here is Michael Pineda's 2019 peripherals indicate an overachievement. He was decent last year, but a 4.30 xFIP is nothing to write home about. Now, Dallas Keuchel has been great for the White Sox this year, ranking in the 80th percentile in Exit Velocity, the 77th percentile in Hard-Hit Percentage, and the 73rd percentile in Barrel Percentage. This implies that his sinker is working well this season. He's keeping the ball on the ground. Keuchel will not allow home runs and then will hand it over to a solid bullpen. Take the Sox.

Pick: White Sox -104

Cubs vs. Pirates

This Cubs team is solid. This Pirates team is trash. Jon Lester is finally regressing but he put in a good outing against the Tigers last time out. Chad Kuhl throws for the Pirates, but the Cubs just need to hit the ball to win this one. The Pirates have one of the worst relief corps in the MLB. Look for Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward to hit Kuhl early, as they have historically done so. Even with the juice, take the Cubs.

Pick: Cubs -152
