The newest installment of WWE NXT kicked off with an NXT tag team championship match. Aichner and Barthel, representing Imperium, are the champions who defended against Breezango. Tyler Breeze and Barthel started in-ring action and it began in favor of Imperium. After getting worked all match, a desperation tag by Breeze leveled out the playing field by bringing in Fandango. Breezango could have won the match twice by this point, but the illegal competitor made his way into the ring to break it up. Then a second match made its way ringside. Four competitors started fighting near the entrance, causing enough of a distraction to sneak up on Breezango. A cheap shot followed by a pin gave Imperium a shot to retain, and they did just that.

Following that contest was a singles exhibition match between Damian Priest and Killian Dain. Priest tweaked his back early in the match and was noticeably struggling. This wasn’t exactly a technical matchup. It seemed to be more of a big-bodied brawler style match. After being worked on all match, Priest found a second wind to get off his finisher and induce the three count over Dain.

The next segment on the show is a women’s singles match featuring Xia Li and Aliyah. While making her way down to the ring, Aliyah noticed Robert Stone drunkenly passed out on the floor. She helped him walk over ringside to possibly manage her and make her a new client. After the majority of the match was run by Li, Stone got himself up on the apron, and “puked,” causing a distraction for Aliyah to get the pin.

An in-ring promo featuring Adam Cole, Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano, and Finn Balor took place discussing the North American championship belt. Cole wanted both belts; Gargano and Balor both wanted the North American. A match has been set for next week featuring Lee, Gargano, and Balor for the North American Championship and the winner will compete in another match on July 8th to face Cole in a double belt match.

Kayden Carter will now face off with Dakota Kai one-on-one. Carter maintained control throughout the match despite the fact that Raquel Gonzalez is doing everything in her power to make sure Kai wins. Just as that was said, a managerial distraction proved to be detrimental for Carter as she’s caught and forced to submit.

Bronson Reed made his way to the ring, awaiting Leon Ruff for their singles match. This match was a whopping 90 seconds and about three moves before a pin. After his victory, Reed naïvely called out Karrion Kross for a match next week.

Following was an in-ring promo with Fantasmo and more former luchadors, all now unmasked wrestlers. After finding out of the collusion for Fantasmo to get the interim Cruiserweight belt, Drake Maverick went down to the ring and got answers but was left in shambles after being brutally beaten.

Now for the main event! Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox will face Bayley and Sasha Banks for the WWE women’s champions. The competitors have to be separated immediately upon entering the ring before the bell even rang. Sasha and Nox start in the ring. It was a very technical start to the match, but once Bayley and Blackheart entered, it was all brawler. Some high-flying antics by Nox gave her team a momentary edge, but it didn’t last long. Both making desperation tags, Blackheart and Sasha both come out blazing. Some ringside trouble for one team and high-flying trouble for the other! This match was about as back-and-forth as it gets. What could have been the nail in the coffin was spoiled due to Sasha breaking up the pin and doing her best to keep the belt on her waist. Blackheart and Nox had the belts won, but Bayley being Bayley brought in an illegal chair, causing a distraction and retaining the dirty way, once again. Io Shirai came running out ringside post-match attacking Bayley and Sasha, only locking in a few moves before the swift escape and end of the show.
