Japan vs. USMNT

The United States Men's National Team's preparation for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar hit a snag after the team lost 0-2 to Japan in Germany on Friday.

Japanese playmaker Daichi Kamada struck first and Kaoru Mitoma scored in the 88th minute to stun the USMNT.

USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter is under intense pressure after his team failed to record a single shot on target against the Japanese in Düsseldorf.

Berhalter admitted after the game that his side was second fiddle to Japan and will have to improve ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

“I think we ended up hurting ourselves too much in the game with silly giveaways,” Berhalter explained. “Give Japan a lot of credit, good team, competitive team, they pressed well, but we can do better.”

With the World Cup looming just 59 days away, the USMNT will have to win its game against Saudi Arabia next week to ease the pressure.
