White Sox to Carry More Old Irving Brewing Co. Offerings at Guaranteed Rate Field
Today, the Chicago White Sox officially announced a multiyear partnership with Molson Coors. The company will become "the official domestic beer, official craft beer and an official hard seltzer partner of the White Sox." This announcement led to many questions from fans, especially those who enjoy craft beer, and what it means for the beer selection at Guaranteed Rate Field. I decided to ask around and eventually got in contact with one of my personal favorites, Old Irving Brewing Co.
From what I've been hearing, the White Sox will still offer a selection of craft beers around the park, and not just ones labeled as such from Molson Coors. It seems The Craft Kave, now known as The Craft Lodge, will remain a mostly separate entity from the large beer sponsor.
Old Irving Brewing had a couple of beers in stock at 35th/Shields last year. The popular Beezer, in addition to one I really enjoyed at the park, Della (which is a Kölsch) were both on the menu. Old Irving confirmed to me that those two brews will still be available in the Craft Lodge, and the company will also offer two more choices for the 2022 season.
One of Old Irving Brewing Co.'s new offerings at White Sox games is Scentinel, which is a west coast IPA. The other is Cush, which is a sour that I expect to be very popular during the hot summer months.
So don't fret about the new sponsorship. I think this bodes well for craft beer enthusiasts attending Guaranteed Rate Field this season. It seems the Craft Lodge will still have a fantastic selection, and I think it's safe to assume there will be other offerings around the rest of the park as well.
